Why do we love Events?
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us working on Diamonds and Deals Women In Business event, so we wanted to take a minute to think about why we love events and share it with you.
Since Starting GEM MEDIA’s sister company GEM MEDIA Events, we have hosted networking events, fashion shows, comedy nights, dinner parties, children parties and more. We have a real passion for events which stemmed from Gemma’s background as an Events Manager in MK’s biggest nightclub Wonderworld. A venue with a capacity of 1800 people that hosted up to 3 events per week.
The #1 reason why we love Events is because we make it happen!
Seeing an event come together from start to finish, after months of planning has got to be one of the most exciting (and scary) aspects of working in the events industry.
For those who do not work in Events, let us tell you that we certainly do not open the doors for guests and everything magically appears. There is a LOT of planning involved with an event, things that often go unnoticed, such as:
- Finding a venue
- Sourcing a Live PA System/ DJ
- Booking entertainment
- Choosing reception drinks & canapés / food
The initial planning can be considered as the dull tasks, however it enables us to connect with people who are also as passionate for events as we are. Together, we make it happen!

The #3 reason why we love Events is because we can get creative!
We get an idea in our mind of how the event will look and it’s up to us to shape it into a work of art. From web design, advertising, email marketing, social media, flyer design, sponsorship campaigns, there is no end to the creativity and we are constantly evolving by thinking of new ideas to capture the interest of potential attendees. This cannot only be achieved online, it is also down to relationship building and real life encounters.
The #4 reason why we love Events is because we can create a buzz!
Through our expertise in Marketing, we share the purpose of the event and tell the story on social media, whilst targeting our desired event guests by ‘following’ them and engaging with them online. Thereafter we add their email address to our database and begin targeting through email marketing campaigns. We also work with local community groups and Media to help further our reach and communicate with their audience(s).
In our latest blog post we discussed how to find the right online influencer. This is definitely an area of marketing that cannot be missed when it comes to events. Bloggers not only help you with the promotions in the run up to the event, they also attend the event and write a review post event. We have networked with some amazing fashion and lifestyle bloggers with a huge following, so we are guaranteed to get the exposure that we need.
The #5 reason why we love Events is because we create a WOW factor!
On the day of the event, we offer a personal and professional service that leaves our event attendees satisfied with their visit and overall experience. We have everything covered and nothing is too much for our hospitality staff.
Did you know that Event planning was ranked the 5th stressful job and we totally agree! (www.careercast.com) However, no event is ever the same and we are look forward to re-inventing ourselves on new and upcoming events.
